NEW DELHI, MAY 13. A number of diabetic children here have conveyed their congratulations and best wishes to the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, on her party's sterling performance in the Lok Sabha elections. The children hoped that the new Government at the Centre would further help them lead a normal life by removing taxes on insulin, syringes, glucometers and strips, the Chairman of the Delhi Diabetes Research Centre, A.K. Jhingan, said today. He said Ms Gandhi always had a soft corner for diabetic children and spends time with them every year on World Diabetes Day. The children were now planning to meet her again to express happiness on her victory and gratitude for the fact that the Congress Government in Delhi had waived the sales tax on the insulin injections in 2001, raising hopes of a similar waiver on other medicines used by the diabetics.
