Bellary
By Our Staff Correspondent
BELLARY, MAY 13. "More than saying that people wanted a change, the poll outcome only points to the wrong economic and anti-people policies pursued by the Congress,'' M.P. Prakash, senior Janata Dal (S) leader, has said. Speaking after the election results were announced here on Thursday, Mr. Prakash said the people, particularly the working and middle classes, did not accept the policies of the Congress. "I predicted that the results in the State will go the Andhra Pradesh way and the Congress will be taught a lesson,'' he said. Mr. Prakash, who is among the three candidates of the party to wrest the seats from the Congress in the district, said the win had made him happy. Mr. Prakash, who is the Chairman of the party's parliamentary committee, said the Janata Dal (S) had emerged powerful and could not be ignored now by other political parties while the new government was formed in the State. To a question, he said all the senior leaders of the party, including H.D. Deve Gowda, would discuss and a take a decision about the strategy to be adopted now. "Whether to support other political parties or seek the support of others will be discussed by the party leaders,'' he reiterated and added that the party would rise to the expectations of the people and respond positively to their needs. Complimenting the BJP for its win in the Bellary Lok Sabha, Mr. Prakash regretted that his party had missed the chance.
