MANGALORE, MAY 14. The medical examination system needs to be objective and transparent, dispensing with the conventional method of being subjective and secretive, the senior Vice-President of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd., V.K. Thalithaya, has said. He was delivering the inaugural address of a three-day "Otology Live Surgery Workshop and DNB/post-graduate ENT exam orientation course" organised by the Department of Ear, Nose, Throat, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA), Deralakatte, near here on Friday. Mr. Thalithaya appreciated the introduction of objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) system in the field of medicine and said the objective system led to greater confidence, encouraged merit and the candidates were assured of their reward. The Dean of KSHEMA, M. Shantaram Shetty, who presided over the function, urged the surgeons to adopt innovative techniques, and the faculty to deliver motivating lectures. He expressed the hope that the workshop would be an eye-opener to the teachers and the students.
