VISAKHAPATNAM, MAY 15. With as many as 21 returning to the Assembly from north Andhra -- the highest the Congress secured in this region since the inception of the Telugu Desam Party -- there are quite a few aspirants to the ministerial berths in the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Cabinet. The seniors who are in the reckoning are Dharmana Prasada Rao (Srikakulam) and Hanumanthu Appayya Dora (Tekkali) of Srikakulam district; Penumatsa Sambasiva Raju (Sativada), Satrucharla Vijayarama Raju (Parvathipuram) and Botsa Satyanarayana, more popular as Sathibabu (Cheepurupalli) from Vizianagaram district; Dronamraju Satyanarayana (Visakhapatnam-1) and Konathala Ramakrishna (Anakapalle) from Visakhapatnam district. Mr. Prasada Rao and Mr. Sambasiva Raju, having served as Ministers in the past, stand a fair chance to get Cabinet berths again. Mr. Satyanarayana and Mr. Ramakrishna are also in the race and likely to be inducted. Mr. Satyanarayana has been nursing the ambition to become a Minister for long and narrowly missed it in the Marri Channa Reddy Ministry. There is also a talk that he may be chosen as Speaker. Mr. Ramakrishna has emerged a strong leader, particularly when Mr. Satyanarayana announced retirement from politics some time ago before making a re-entry. The Anakapalle MLA led several movements, including the ones for bringing the Godavari water to the city and release of Raiwada water to farmers in the rural areas. This makes Mr. Ramakrishna an automatic choice for the ministerial berth from the district. Caste considerations, to some extent, are likely to favour Mr. Dora who hails from the strong Kalinga community and Mr. Sathibabu (Kapu) for the plum post, the latter has been a close follower of Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy.
