THRISSUR, MAY 15. Hundreds of students, teachers and farmers participated in the open-day programmes conducted the Kerala Forest Research Institute(KFRI), Peechi, as part of the National Technology Day celebrations on Friday. According to a release issued by the KFRI, the institute was open to visitors on the day and exhibition on conservation of forests, distribution of tree buds, and interaction with scientists were held as part of the programmes. The experts, C. Renuka, E. J. Jaison, M. Balagopalan and M. Balasundaran, delivered lectures on various topics for the visitors. Visitors were allowed to visit the laboratories, the butterfly park, animal museum, herbarium, forest tree nursery, library and the automatic weather observatory. The FAO consultant, A. Bavappa, inaugurated the programmes. Njanaharan presided over the function, the release said.
