CHENNAI, MAY 15. The Hamsadhwani Music Festival has helped in spreading music knowledge among the youth and has taken classical music to foreign shores, said industrialist P. Obul Reddy, at the conclusion of the 14th annual music and drama festival. Within a short span, it has established itself as a premier music sabha, which encourages and promotes upcoming artistes as well as provides a platform to seasoned artistes, he said. Sangitha Kalanidhi T.V. Sankaranarayanan was felicitated on the occasion. This year, the sabha instituted the Hamsadhwani Ramachandran Sathabhishekam endowment award, whose first recipients were Ranjani and Gayathri. The award was collected from Mr. Reddy in absentia. He presented the Young Performer Award to Srividya Ramnath.
