NEW DELHI, MAY 15. Two persons have been arrested by the North-East Delhi police for allegedly manufacturing spurious soft drinks from their hideout at Khajuri Khas in North-East Delhi. The police have recovered a large number of filled and empty bottles from the premises. According to the police, a team led by Sub-Inspector K.P. Shah of Khajuri Khas police station, conducted a raid at A-11, Gali No.1 Shadatpur, Khajuri Khas, on Friday evening and arrested two persons. They have been identified as Sonu, a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad, and Sanjay, a resident of Sunder Nagri in North-East Delhi. The police recovered 20 crates of spurious drinks being sold in the name of a popular cola in bottles with 200 ml capacity. Four crates of another soft drink, also containing 200 ml bottles, were also recovered. At least 21 crates of empty 300 ml bottles of the popular cola and two crates of the other soft drink were also recovered from the spot, along with some machinery used in the process of mixing and bottling. Meanwhile, the owner of the company, Subhash (25), managed to escape from the spot. It came to light that the accused used hand-pump water and some colours to manufacture the spurious drinks. A case has been registered at Khajuri Khas police station and further investigations are on to trace the absconding factory owner.
