THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MAY 15 . The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) has announced that the reservation of 10 per cent of seats under the NRI quota in the Government-aided engineering colleges in the State, has been scrapped from this year onwards. A decision to this effect comes in the wake of a directive of the AICTE. However, the seats under the Foreign National quota will continue to exist, though subject to the ratification of the AICTE. Of the 15 per cent seats reserved under this category, one-third will be allocated for children of Keralites working in countries in West Asia. Details of seats under this quota can be had from the Nodal Officer, functioning at the Centre for Continuing Education, Ambalamukku, Thiruvananthapuram (Phone: 0471 2341400). The CEE has also released the results of 112 SC/ST candidates who had appeared for the entrance test for admission to the engineering and medical courses for the year 2004, which had been withheld pending clearance from the KIRTADS.
