Thiruvananthapuram dominates

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MAY 15. Host Thiruvananthapuram dominated the proceedings on the opening day of the State cycling championship at the LNCPE velodrome, Kariyavattom here on Saturday. Cyclist from Thiruvananthapuram, who had the luxury of training at the only velodrome in the State, won four out of the six gold medals at stake on the opening day of the championship. However, A.R. Praveen (Kozhikode) and Mahitha Mohan (Idukki) prevented a clean sweep by Thiruvananthapuram.

The results:

Men: I km time trial: 1. Prince H.S.Hylen (Tvm), 2. M.Ajesh Mohan (Tvm), 3. S.R.Sudheesh (Tsr) (1:18.08).

Boys (under-18): I km time trial: 1. A.R.Praveen (Kzde), 2. T.Jithin (Tvm), 3. S.Akhil (Ekm), (1:22.28)

Under-16: 500m time trial: 1. Arun Mohan (Tvm), 2. Jaison Jacob (Ekm), 3. J.S.Sajin (Tvm), (40.70s).

Women: 500m time trial: 1.V.Rajani (Tvm), 2. S.Saritha (Tvm), 3. R.S.Suganthi (Klm), (41.63s).

Girls (under-18): 500m time trial: 1. S.Saritha (Tvm), 2. H.Suman (Tvm), 3. Anumol Joseph (Idk), (40.47s).

Under-16: 1. Mahitha Mohan (Idk), 2. Mable Antony (Tvm), 3. Karthika Mol (Ktm), (44.98s).
