HYDERABAD, MAY 15. The Andhra Pradesh Council of Churches has congratulated Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on his resounding electoral victory and on his assuming charge as the Chief Minister of the State promising to better the lot of the poor and downtrodden. In a statement here today, Jetti A. Oliver, secretary and treasurer of the organisation, also hailed the decision of the Congress-led secular combine in choosing Sonia Gandhi as the Prime Ministerial candidate. Meanwhile, the Youth Wing of National Congress of Indian Christians(NCIC) hailed the victory of the Congress party and its allies and termed it as the victory of the voiceless people in India. The president of NCIC, C.A. Daniel Adams, in a release said that the BJP led NDA Government had ignored the repeated attacks on the Christian minorities. The NCIC hoped that the Congress Government would safeguard the interest of the Christian minorities in the State.
YSR election hailed
The Government Junior College Principals' Association has expressed its happiness over Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy taking over as the Chief Minister. The association president, S. Mohan Rao and general secretary P. Ramakrishna Reddy, in a release said that the new Chief Minister had earlier worked as the Education Minister and had an in-depth understanding about the problems in the field of education.
