Salem Collectorate opens voters registration cell

By Our Special Correspondent

SALEM, MAY 16. The Collector and the District Election Officer, S. Ramachandran, will hold an enquiry into the allegations that the names of genuine voters had been deleted from electoral rolls in various parts of district during the recently concluded Parliamentary elections.

The Collector said that the administration had opened a Voters Registration Cell in the Office of the Collectorate to ascertain the circumstances under which the names of the voters have been deleted. The voters who found their names missing from the rolls can send an application addressed to the Cell indicating their name, age, present address and previous address. If they possess an Elector Photo identity Card (EPIC), a photocopy of the same may be enclosed.

Each application will be serially numbered and would be sent to the respective Electoral Registration Officers to take steps to include the names of the applicants after field verification. No bulk applications from political parties or association would be entertained.

Mr. Ramachandran said that the applications could be sent to the Voters Registration Cell, Office of the District Election Officer and Collector, Salem Collectorate, Salem.
