Tirupati
By Our Staff Reporter
TIRUPATI, MAY 16. Rail traffic on the Mumbai-Chennai high-density traffic route was mildly disrupted for six hours on Sunday with the derailment of an engine at Renigunta junction late on Saturday night. With the non-electrification of the route from Renigunta towards Mumbai, it is the practice to replace electric engine with a diesel-powered one. It was said that the engine of the 6010 Chennai-Mumbai Mail derailed during this process after midnight on the first platform, leading to mild disruption in traffic. Consequently, some trains like Narayanadri Express from Hyderabad reached Tirupati three hours late, while many trains ran even six hours behind schedule.
