BANGALORE, MAY 16. Rejecting the overtures of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Janata Dal (Secular) in Karnataka today authorised the former Prime Minister and party chief, H.D. Deve Gowda, to negotiate with the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, on the formation of the next government in the State. The new elected Legislators of the party, who authorised Mr. Gowda to work out the modalities, also unanimously elected the former Deputy Chief Minister, S. Siddaramaiah, as the party's floor leader.
