By Our Staff Reporter
KARIMNAGAR, MAY 16. Hailing the decision of the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to provide free power to farmers, the APCC spokesperson and Jagtial MLA-elect, T. Jeevan Reddy, has favoured uninterrupted power supply to the agricultural sector instead of the existing staggered timings. Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, Mr. Jeevan Reddy said that power supply at regular intervals to the farming sector was causing voltage fluctuation as all farmers were switching on their pumpsets on that particular period increasing the load. "If the allotted power was supplied continuously, farmers could utilise it according to their requirements and availability of water in wells,'' he stated. To a question, he said that the Congress Government would strive for distribution of 13-hour power supply to the agriculture sector. He said that free power supply to farmers would definitely increase the farm production. He said that free power to farmers was a boon. With regard to the Karimnagar district, Mr. Jeevan Reddy said that he would strive for completion of the Yellampalli project and the SRSP flood flow canal. The Government would strive for the revival of welfare programmes for Scheduled Castes by relaunching Community Irrigation wells, land purchase schemes, housing and other schemes. The DCC spokesperson, Akarapu Bhaskar Reddy, was also present.
