Temperature

TIRUCHI, MAY 16. The City today registered a maximum temperature of 35.6 degree Celsius and a minimum of 25.6 degree Celsius.

Cases filed

The Navelpattu police have registered cases against one Naushad (18), Mani (25) and two others of Mathur area for allegedly damaging windowpanes of a private bus last night.

According to police sources, they pelted stones on the bus bound for Pudukottai from Tiruchi, following their failure to board it.

Dowry harassment

The Tiruverumbur Women police have registered a case against an ex-serviceman, Sekar (46) of Therku Kattur, based on a complaint of dowry harassment, on Saturday.

Police said Jesintha Mary (35) had stated that the accused, her husband, had tortured her demanding 10 sovereigns of jewels and Rs. 50,000 cash.

Detained

The police have detained Elisha (46) of Varaganeri, an alleged `drug offender,' in the special prison for women.

The Commissioner of Police, T.P. Sundaramoorthy, ordered her detention, according to a statement.

Body found

An unidentified body of a middle aged man was reportedly found beneath the Cauvery bridge on Saturday.

The Railway police are investigating.

Mettur level

Water level at the Mettur reservoir stood at 27.43 feet today.

The inflow was 1166 cusecs and the discharge 148 cusecs.
