Andhra Bank to extend network

KURNOOL, MAY 17. Andhra Bank proposed to open two full-fledged branches and one extension counter in the zone, comprising Kurnool, Anantapur and Mahabubnagar districts.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, the Deputy General Manager, G. Rangarao, said new branches were planned at Nandyal Road in Kurnool and Kothur in Mahabubnagar district. Also, an extension counter at SVS Medical College in Mahabubnagar was under consideration.

The bank installed 11 ATMs in the zone and planned two more at Kurnool. In addition to the two existing ATMs in the city, one was ready for commissioning at New Bus station.

Another at Kondareddy fort was under consideration. Mr. Ranga Rao said in addition to the existing currency chest at Anantapur, two chests were planned at Kurnool and Mahabubnagar. He said the bank had a network of 74 branches in the zone.

Andhra Bank set a business target of Rs. 1,935 crores in the zone during the current financial year which include mobilisation of Rs. 1,265 crores deposits and Rs. 670 crores advances. The priority sector lending accounted for 76 per cent.

The bank earmarked Rs. 250 crores for agriculture sector enhancing it from Rs.186 crores of last year. In Kurnool zone, an amount of Rs. 120 crores was earmarked for housing and Rs. 25 crores for educational loans.
