Drop in humidity

The maximum temperature recorded at the Gannavaram Airport was 36.2 degree Celsius and the minimum 22.6 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity, which was 83 per cent slipped to 70 per cent by evening.

Power shutdown

There will be no power supply in the following areas on May 18 between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.-- RTC Colony, Teachers Colony, Fun Time Club Road and Maruthi Cooperative Colony.

City Police Chief's warning

The City Police Commissioner, A. B. Venkateswara, has warned against people resorting to `private panchayats' to settle disputes. Terming such settlements as `highly illegal', Mr. Rao, said stern action would be taken against individuals holding such so-called `settlements' and those getting their problems redressed with such persons. He appealed to the people to inform the Police Control Room or the nearest police station about such activities.

Interview for security

The Regional Employment Officer has asked ex-servicemen interested in working as security guards for private organisations to appear for an interview at his office on the ITI College premises, Route No. 5 on May 18 from 10 a.m. Selected candidates would be paid a monthly salary of Rs. 2,500 by the employers, he added.

Tele-counselling

A tele-counselling programme for students interested in higher education will be held at the SRR & CVRR Government College on May 18 from 2 p.m. The programme being beamed through the official Mana TV will enable students to scout for academic and career opportunities in different postgraduate courses in various universities. Experts in the fields, according to the College Principal, R. B. Deekshitulu, will address the questions and doubts.
