ANANTAPUR, MAY 18. The district has received Rs. 8.59 crores under the Sadak Grameena Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) for 2004-05, the zilla parishad Chairman, J. Suryanarayana, said here on Tuesday. Addressing a meeting with MPDOs he said the funds would be divided in the ratio of 20:30:50 among the zilla parishad, mandal parishads and gram panchayats, respectively. He explained that of the amount released to the district, 6.37 crores was Central share and 2.22 crores the State component. As per the statute, 22.5 per cent funds would be spent on development works for SCs and STs, he said. The mandal-wise distribution of funds as per the guidelines would be completed soon. The Chief Executive Officer, Chalapathi Rao, told the MPDOs to take up development works with SGRY funds and diversion of the funds, if any, would be dealt with sternly. He also asked the MPDOs to concentrate on the maintenance of sanitation in the villages and taking up preventive measures against the spread of communicable diseases during the rainy season.
