Recruitment after 12-year wait
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
MAY 18.
After day-long counselling at `Jala Soudha' here today, the Irrigation Department handed over appointment letters to as many as 297 assistant executive engineers recruited after a gap of 12 years.
These candidates were selected after a written test and interview by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission on March 31 and February 1 respectively.
The candidates who came from different corners of the State, spent the day at Jala Soudha participating in the exercise during which they selected the place of posting based on the list of vacancies shown to them. This was perhaps the first case in which appointment letters were issued within four months of the test-interview.
T. S. Prakasha Rao, Engineer-in-Chief, Irrigation & CAD, M. Ranga Reddy and K. Bhagyatha Reddy, Chief Engineers respectively for Medium and Minor Irrigation, who announced the successful completion of the exercise at a press conference, said this was made possible by three committees of engineers formed for the purpose.
Over 100 candidates were women. The fresh recruits were being sent to meet the needs of the six zones in the State.
