Octopus Marine in final
KAYALPATNAM,
MAY 18.
Octopus Marine FC (Chennai) entered the final of the 39th annual Maulana Abulkalam Azad memorial trophy all-India football tournament defeating Pondicherry SFA 2-1 here on Tuesday.
The first half was barren. After resumption, the Chennai outfit took the lead in the 58th minute. Outside-right Muthuja Pasha latched on to a pass from Senthilkumar, and fired a powerful shot on the run from 25-yards. The Pondy goalkeeper Sivakumar collected the ball but the ball slipped from his hands and went into the goal.
Ten minutes later, striker Justin collected a pass from Senthilkumar, evaded two defenders and found the target. The Pondy team went all out thereafter, but only managed to reduce the margin in the 74th minute, when Senthil found the net off a fine pass from midfielder Kamalraj.
