Navy guns down 3 Pakistani fishermen

By Our Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD, MAY 18. Three Pakistani fishermen were killed and another was injured when the Navy opened fire on a fishing boat about seven nautical miles inside the Indian territory.

According to an official spokesman here today, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon when ships patrolling the area saw the boat off the Jhakhau port in Saurashtra coast of Gujarat. The Navy warned the fishermen but they ignored the warning and tried to escape, resulting in the forces opening fire.

The injured fisherman was hospitalised. The boat was brought to the Okha port and the five others on board were detained for questioning and charged with unauthorised trespassing.
