CB-CID probe sought

CHENNAI May 18. The brother of a person, who was murdered, has moved the Madras High Court seeking an investigation by the Crime Branch CID.

The body of the deceased, Prathap, was recovered from a paddy field in the Manimangalam police limits, off Tambaram, last week. In his petition, Amitabh, brother of Prathap, said the latter was married to Rosalyn alias Selva Arasi. It said Prathap was kidnapped from his home at Selaiyur in mid-April and the girl's father was behind the kidnap. Later Prathap as well as Rosalyn had filed complaints with the police, but action had not been taken to trace him. Prathap had also filed a habeas corpus petition but there was no progress in the case. On May 14, Rosalyn lodged a complaint with the City Police Commissioner. The next day, the Selaiyur police showed to the petitioner photographs of a deceased person, which was identified as that of Prathap. The facts following the kidnapping and the lack of action by the police resulted in the murder, the petitioner contended.
