CHENNAI, MAY 18. Four youths, including two brothers, drowned in the Madipakkam lake yesterday morning. The police said Murgan 12, Karthik alias Dorairaj 14, and Sreenivasan 13, and Karthik 11(brothers), all residents of Pazhadiamman Koil Street in Madipakkam, went to the lake for swimming without informing their parents. The parents went in search of them before filing a complaint at the Madipakkam police station this afternoon at the initiative of a local panchayat member. Meanwhile, the bodies were seen floating in the lake. The residents expressed surprise at the incident as there is not much water in the lake. The police suspect the boys might have drowned after slipping into one of the trenches dotting the lakebed.
