MANGALORE, MAY 18. The district branch of the Indian Red Cross Society received the certificate of excellence from the Governor, T.N. Chaturvedi, at a function organised at the central office of the society in Bangalore recently. A press release from the Secretary of the Red Cross's district branch and Headquarters Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner, S.A. Prabhakar Sharma, said the branch had organised 32 blood donation camps in the last one year and collected 950 units of blood. It had encouraged the youth to donate blood voluntarily and, thereby, involved them in social service, he said. The Chairman of the district branch and Deputy Commissioner, Arvind Shrivastava, had congratulated Red Cross volunteers for the achievement, Mr. Sharma said.
