HYDERABAD, MAY. 18. Sleuths of the Hyderabad Detective Department, on Tuesday arrested two persons-- S.M. Khader and Md. Khursheed-- and recovered five stolen Maruthi-800 cars worth Rs. 7.5 lakhs from their possession. Eijaz Ahmed, an accomplice of the accused, was still at large, a press release said. The accused used to lift cars parked in front of houses during early hours. They would open the car's locked doors by using a thin four-inch-long scissors. A false-ceiling worker, Khader, was earlier involved in lifting six cars, 29 house burglaries and a robbery. He came out of jail in January 2004 after serving an 18-month jail term. Khursheed was a taxi driver and sentenced to three months imprisonment for stealing two cars and a house burglary. He was released from jail in December 2003. The duo joined hands with Ahmed and resorted to lifting vehicles. Inspector, Riyasat Ali Khan, rounded up Khader and Khursheed at Ramkoti acting on a tip-off.
Woman gang-raped?
A 30-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped at Rikabgunj in Charminar police station area on Monday. A resident of TRT colony in Seethaphalmandi, the woman was a labourer. Two men, who came in an autorickshaw, took her to Rikabgunj saying they would find some work for her. They stopped the three-wheeler at an isolated place, took her inside an abandoned house, threatened her with knives and allegedly outraged her modesty. Five other men, who were present in the house, also sexually assaulted her. The victim's husband, Jakir Ahmed, lodged a complaint with the police.
