Letters to the Editor
Sir, By threatening to resign and do many more things if Ms. Gandhi became Prime Minister, Sushma Swaraj took the country back by 200 years when women shaved their heads, wore white saris and did similar things of self-denial in the name of social order. Her so-called pledge is a blot on the women's liberation movement of the country and should be condemned by one and all.
R. Ramesh Sundar,
Sir, Ms. Swaraj should go ahead with her vows even if Ms. Gandhi does not become the Prime Minister. It will give her an opportunity to introspect with humility and grace the damage she is doing to the democratic process.
D.N. Rao,
Sir, Dharma denena vardhathe dharma flourishes by renunciation and sacrifice. As for Ms. Swaraj, she should do away with her ego and not her hair. Renouncing hair is human but renouncing power is divine.
S. Sathyanarayana,
