Platform ticket machine installed

KOLLAM, MAY 19. An automatic platform ticket vending machine was installed at the Kollam Railway station today.

The operation of the machine was formally inaugurated by the Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Sujatha Jayaraj, in the presence of the Kollam branch manager of the State Bank of Travancore, Anil Kumar.

The machine will vend platform tickets for Rs. 3 each, one at a time or two at a time.

For a single ticket, three coins of Rs. 1 has to be inserted in the slot. If a Rs. 5 coin plus a Rs. 1 coin is inserted, two platform tickets are issued.

The machine is placed just at the entry point from the ticket booking counter hall into the platform.

The Kollam Railway station is the third station in the State to have the facility.

The Station Manager, Ajith, said that the facility for purchasing the platform tickets from the counters would continue.
