Upset win for BIET

MYSORE, MAY 19. Helped by some inspired play by Sunil Jajur (18) and Santosh (10), Bapuji Institute of Technology (BIET), Davangere registered an upset 38-34 win over last year's runner-up NMAMIT, Nittee and entered the semifinals of the VTU inter-collegiate basketball tournament for men (Mysore Zone), conducted by Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore here on Wednesday.

The results (quarterfinals): BIET, Davangere 38 (Sunil Jajur 18, Santosh 10) bt NMAMIT, Nittee 34 (Keshav Holla 17); NIE, Mysore 54 (Biligiri 31) bt KVG, Sullia 40 (Nixon 11, Jincie 13); VVCE, Mysore 53 (Sanjay 10, Nandan 14) bt GMIT, Davangere 30 (Praveen 12).
