CHANDIGARH, MAY 19. The Haryana Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala, today directed all Heads of Departments to finalise their schemes speedily and submit them to the Government for sanction within a week to further accelerate the pace of development. Presiding over a meeting of the Administrative Secretaries of various departments here, he said that the pace of development was affected because of the Model Code of Conduct in force during the Lok Sabha elections. He commented that the development of the road sector had been adversely affected during the period. He directed that the scheme of developing a model village in each block by carving out residential sectors on urban pattern should be given utmost priority. Mr. Chautala also directed that development projects awaiting inauguration and laying of foundation stones, should coincide with his hectic tour schedule to check waste of time and money. The projects involving funds from the Central Government should also be given priority and care should be taken that these do not lapse. The distributaries and minors, which were in the pipeline, should also be completed speedily. The slightly damaged watercourses should be repaired on priority, he said. Mr. Chautala claimed that the State had achieved the highest ever yield of 15.56 quintals of mustard per hectare, which is a record in the country.
