Cloudy sky forecast

The maximum temperature is likely to be around 36 degree Celsius on Thursday and the sky will be partly cloudy. On Wednesday the maximum temperature was 34.6 degree Celsius, minimum 23 degree Celsius and relative humidity 44 per cent.

Free eye camp held

A free eye cataract screening camp was conducted at Veernagar by HelpAge India's regional branch on Thursday. An optometrist from the US, Calvin Pabst, conducted the camp. In all, 165 persons were screened.

`O' positive blood needed

Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences is urgently in need of `O' positive blood group and has appealed to the general public to volunteer to donate blood for helping patients, according to a press release by its Director, K. Subba Rao.

LIC offers Bima Nivesh

The Life Insurance Corporation of India has launched a single premium scheme, Bima Nivesh-2004. The plan is available for fixed terms of five and 10 years under single premium mode of payment. The policy is available for persons in the age group of 13 to 70 years.

Awards in Geophysics

The Association of Exploration Geoscientists has invited entries for `ONGC-AEG Awards for the Best Ph.D Thesis in Geophysics,' which will be presented during the 29th annual convention seminar on `Exploration geophysics' in Guwahati (November 3 to 5).

Researchers/professionals who have been awarded doctoral degrees between April 1, 2001, and March 31, 2004, are eligible. Filled applications should be sent to secretary of the association, CEG Building, Osmania University, Hyderabad-500007, before July 10.
