COIMBATORE, MAY 19. Fifty activists belonging to dalit movements including the Adi Tamizhar Munnani and Dalit Panthers of India were removed by the police at the Avanashi - Kalapatti Road junction near SITRA this afternoon when they attempted to visit the Kalapatti Town Panchayat which witnessed a caste clash on May 16 and 17. Peace and normality was just being restored, the entry of the activists was likely to cause breach of public peace and tranquillity; hence they were being removed as a preventive measure under the provisions of CrPC 151, police said. All of them were released in the evening.
