50 dalits removed

By Our Staff Reporter

COIMBATORE, MAY 19. Fifty activists belonging to dalit movements including the Adi Tamizhar Munnani and Dalit Panthers of India were removed by the police at the Avanashi - Kalapatti Road junction near SITRA this afternoon when they attempted to visit the Kalapatti Town Panchayat which witnessed a caste clash on May 16 and 17.

Peace and normality was just being restored, the entry of the activists was likely to cause breach of public peace and tranquillity; hence they were being removed as a preventive measure under the provisions of CrPC 151, police said. All of them were released in the evening.
