NEW DELHI, MAY 19. With the water level at the Tajewala Barrage in North-West Delhi dropping sharply reducing availability of raw water, residents of Lutyens' Delhi will have to go without water for at least three days starting this Thursday. Even the President's Estate including Rashtrapati Bhavan, Prime Minister's House and Parliament House will remain affected due to non-availability of water. "Due to non-availability of raw water from the Tajewala Barrage, most areas falling in the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) jurisdiction will not get water supply from May 20 morning till the evening of May 22," said an official release today. The water crisis will not only affect all the major residential areas in Lutyens' Delhi including Sarojini Nagar, Nauroji Nagar, Kidwai Nagar, Mandir Marg, Laxmibai Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Moti Bagh and R.K. Puram, but also VVIP areas like the entire Diplomatic Enclave, South Avenue, North Avenue and Chanakyapuri area. Even the prominent hospitals including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Safdarjung Hospital and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital besides market areas like Connaught Place, Khan Market, Malcha Marg and Gole Market will receive no water supply for the next three days. Other affected areas include Parliament Annexe, Harijan Basti, Pandit Pant Marg, Mahadev Road, Ashoka Road, Gurudwara Rakabganj Road, Dr. Bhishamber Das Marg, Vinay Marg, Railway Colony, Sardar Patel Marg and Tughlaq Road. In case of water emergency, residents can call up the NDMC's water supply control room at Kalibari Marg by dialling 23360683 and 23743642 for water tankers.
