Wife, paramour arrested for CRPF constable's murder

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, MAY 19. The wife of the Central Reserve Police Force constable, who was found murdered at Najafgarh in South-West Delhi on Tuesday, has been arrested along with her paramour and two others by the South-West Delhi police in connection with the case.

According to the police, the body of Suresh, a CRPF constable posted with the 14th battalion of CRPF in Manipur, was found in a gutter in Najafgarh with several blunt injuries on the head. A search of the body led to the recovery of a piece of paper in which Suresh had expressed the apprehension that his wife, Sushila, was becoming a threat to his life as he objected to her illicit affair with Jai Singh, a relative of Suresh. The police tried to trace Jai Singh, but found that he had fled from his house in Najafgarh.

The police also came to know that Sushila had been in touch with Jai over mobile phone on May 17 night when Suresh had left his house on his scooter. Following investigations, the police managed to arrest Jai today. At his instance, Sushila, his brother, Narender, and another acquaintance, Rajnish, were also arrested.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that Jai and Sushila had developed illicit relationship taking advantage of the fact that Suresh used to remain out of town for long periods due to his postings.

However, Suresh came to know about it and objected to their relationship. But, Sushila refused to end the affair and also got a mobile phone for Jai so that she could remain in touch with him. When Suresh became adamant, Sushila decided to eliminate him. She not only convinced Jai to kill Suresh but also provided him with money so that he could hire killers. Jai took Rs. 4,500 in advance and roped in his brother Narender and an acquaintance from the same locality, Rajnish. Rajnish too was promised money.

About 10 days ago, Suresh was sent from Manipur to deliver some documents at the Jharonda Kalan camp of the CRPF. Suresh, who had got a RTV financed under his name, also wanted to pay some pending instalments for which he needed money. Sushila came to know about this and informed Jai following which they hatched the conspiracy.

As per plan, Jai offered financial help to Suresh to which he reluctantly agreed. On May 17 evening, he called up Suresh asking him to come to Dichaon village. When Suresh reached Dichaon, Jai asked him to accompany him to a friend's place.

However, he took him to a nearby jungle where Rajnish and Narender were already present. They hit him on the head several times with sticks as a result of which Suresh collapsed and died on the spot.

In order to destroy the evidence, they dumped Suresh's body in a gutter on Dichaon-Bakkarwala Road and also abandoned his scooter nearby.

At the instance of the accused, the police have recovered their blood stained clothes and the weapon of offence. Further investigations in the case are on.
