HYDERABAD, MAY 20. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has decided to revise the security deposit rates for new telephone connections based on the facilities requested by the customer. Customers were till now paying an annual rental deposit of Rs. 3,000 - Rs. 2,000 at the time of registration and Rs. 1,000 with the first bill. Now they will have to pay Rs. 1,000 for local call facility and `95' facility for calls within the State. With STD, it is Rs. 2,000; with ISD it is Rs. 3,000 and for `Sulabh' connection with incoming facility only, Rs. 500. The Hyderabad Telecom District has decided to collect the registration charges as follows: Rs. 500 for Local + 95 at the time of registering for new phone connection and the remaining security deposit of Rs. 500 in equal instalments of Rs. 250 each. Rs. 1,000 will be collected for connections with STD facility and remaining amount in equal instalments of Rs. 500 each. For fresh connections with ISD facility, Rs. 1,500 will be collected during registration and remaining Rs. 1,500 in equal instalments of Rs. 750 each. For `Sulabh' connection, Rs. 160 has to be paid at the time of registration and Rs. 340 of security deposit in instalments of Rs. 170 each. The scheme will come into force from May 21 onwards, a press release said.
