Derailment hits Egmore-Tambaram section services

CHENNAI, MAY 20. Train services in the Chennai Egmore-Tambaram (broad gauge) section were disrupted for about six hours today following derailment of a water special near Chromepet, about 18 km from here this morning.

According to Southern Railway sources, the empty water special was on its way to Chengalpattu from Egmore when the brake van and a wagon jumped the rails. Traffic between Chennai Egmore and Pallavaram. was restored at 5.15 p.m.
