20,000 litres of `wash' destroyed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,
MAY 21.
A team comprising Rural police, Excise and forest personnel conducted a joint raid in the Aryanad forest range this morning and destroyed 20,000 litres of `koda' (wash) and Rs. 4,600 worth of distilling equipment.
The team seized 100 kg of `karippatti', 110 kg of `kareenchappatta' and 18 litres of arrack and handed over the same to the Excise department. Boundermukku, Eenchappara, Anakkayathumoola, Venkavu and Oruppurakkadu were among the areas raided. The 50-member raid team was led by the Aryanad Circle Inspector, Vinod Mathew George, the Excise Circle Inspector, Abdul Azeez, and the Forest Deputy Ranger, Maneendran Nair.
