Sharp fall in humidity

The Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 39.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27.8 degree Celsius, on Friday. Humidity dropped from 51 per cent in the morning to 34 per cent in the evening.

Commodity prices

The following were the prices (in rupees per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market, according to the Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry: Groundnut oil-55, palmolein oil-45.50, sunflower oil-53, tamarind (flower variety)-26 to 35, tamarind (karipuli variety)-37 to 43, chillies-14 to 22, rice (2716)-13, rice (super fine)-14 to 15, rice (samba masoori)-15 to 16, black gram-19.40 to 25.40 and red gram-27 to 31.

BSNL customer meetings

The Telecom Department plans to hold customers' meetings at all its divisional headquarters, DGM headquarters and SSA headquarters on Monday (May 24). The BSNL subscribers can air their grievances pertaining to improper functioning of telephones, delay in shifts and provision of new phone connections and excess billing. The following are the venues where the meetings are proposed to be held: The conference hall of the BSNL Bhawan at Chuttugunta, Vijaywada. The customers could acquire more details on phone no. 2444055. Similar meetings would be organised at the offices of the divisional engineers of Machilipatnam (221888), Gudivada (242456), Nuzvid (233999), Vuyyur (235666), Challapalli (225200), Kaikalur (225000), Nandigama (276333), Tiruvuru (253599) and Gannavaram (253333).

RTC exam

The State Road Transport Corporation proposes to organise an examination for traffic supervisors and mechanical supervisors (trainees), at the Vijayawada centre, on Sunday. In a statement here on Friday, the corporation's Krishna district regional manager, U. Sudhakar Rao, said the candidates appearing for the examination would not be allowed to carry any electronic gadgets inside the examination hall.
