`Rename Pondicherry railway station'

PONDICHERRY, MAY 22. If Madras can be Chennai, Bombay can be Mumbai and Calcutta can be Kolkata, they why cannot Pondicherry become Puducherry? This is a question the Tamil Protection Movement (Thamizh Paadhugaappu Iyakkam) is asking the Railways.

A name board proclaiming the destination as Pondicherry instead of Puducherry, in the newly-renovated railway station is causing trouble. Members of the movement, who staged a demonstration today in front of the Railway Station, want the name changed to Puducherry since that is the original name of the town.
