JAIPUR, MAY 22. Jhunjhunu has become the latest district in Rajasthan to be connected with video conferencing facility, enabling the district officials to have direct on-screen interaction with the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and others in the State Capital. With this, the number of districts across the country linked with video conferencing has gone up to 397. The Jhunjhunu Collector, Kunjilal Meena, inaugurated the service at the district headquarter over the week-end and conversed on screen with the Senior Scientist at the National Informatics Centre, R.S. Dagar, in Jaipur. Mr. Meena said the introduction of the technology would facilitate holding of meetings with senior officials in Jaipur without being physically present there. "This path-breaking facility of information technology will reduce the distance between the districts and Jaipur,'' Mr. Meena said and hoped that the remaining districts would be brought to the network by the end of next year. He said the connection of Jhunjhunu with video-conferencing was one of the features of the Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje's 100-day action plan and the work was completed on April 5 last. The television set, camera and other equipment have been installed in a separate room in the District Collectorate.
