HYDERABAD, MAY 22. Traffic came to a standstill at several busy junctions in the city following the swearing-in ceremony of the State cabinet at Raj Bhavan on Saturday morning. Right from 11 a.m. motorists intending to proceed towards Somajiguda via Raj Bhavan road and vice-versa were not allowed. The entire Punjagutta stretch up to Khairatabad was in chaos. There were heavy traffic jams on busy roads like Begumpet, HPS and Rasoolpura junction. For some strange reason, the authorities had put barricades at Rasoolpura junction, causing severe inconvenience for motorists coming from the Paradise side. At Somajigua, the police had a tough time trying to disperse the candidates who had arrived at the Zikra school to appear in an entrance test. A police official complained that the traffic constables and sub-inspectors were not briefed about the arrangements and everything went haywire. "No initial plan was drawn and no prior briefing was done, still we managed to regulate the traffic," a police officer said. The traffic on the Raj Bhavan was allowed only after 1.15 p.m. However, traffic flow returned to normalcy only by evening.
