DHAKA: Over 200 persons were reported missing after a passenger launch capsized in the Meghna river, near Chandpur, on Saturday night. Officials said the double-decker launch MV Lighting Sun with 250 passengers on board capsized at about 3:30 am. While 50 passengers managed to swim ashore, the fate of the others is unknown. Reports said that eight bodies had so far been found. Overloading and monsoon storms cause frequent accidents in Bangladesh resulting in hundreds of deaths every year. Violent storms hit a number of coastal districts on Saturday leaving seven persons dead and over 500 injured.
