THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MAY 23. Schools in the State have done fairly well in the Senior School Certificate examination 2004, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE), for the students of Class XII, the results of which were published today. The Sainik School in the State capital has registered a 100 per cent pass in the examination, with all the 76 students having passed, 34 of them with a distinction, 22 placed in the first class and 20 in the second class. The Arya Central School, Pattom, too has registered a 100 per cent pass, with all the 244 students who had appeared for the examination coming out successful. The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan has registered a pass per cent of 98.6, with 222 of the 225 candidates having been successful. There are 62 distinctions in this school. The details of the results of the other institutions in the capital city such as the St. Thomas School, Saraswathy Vidyalaya, Christ Nagar, Thiruvallom, ARR Public School, Nettayam, and the NSS Public School, Perunthanni, were not available. Kozhikode schools do well: Schools in the district performed well in the CBSE Standard XII examinations. Aruna Kesavan of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chevayur, here scored 487 marks out of 500 in Group B, the Principal of the school said here. A total of 75 students appeared in the Group A (Computer science stream), Group B (Biology stream) and Group C (Commerce stream) at the school. Seventy-four students got first class and above. Seven students got 90 per cent and above, followed by 47 students getting 75 per cent and above and there were 27 students in the 65 to 74 per cent range. The two Kendriya Vidyalayas in the city also performed well. Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 at East Hill here recorded 98.2 per cent pass, with 166 students out of 169 students who appeared for the examination passing, one fail and two compartmental (fail in one subject). Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2 at Eravathukunnu here recorded a pass per cent of 96.4. Impressive show by Kochi schools: Most of the CBSE schools in and around Kochi put up an impressive performance by scoring 100 per cent pass. Among the city schools which scored 100 per cent pass are the Al-Ameen Public School, Edapally; Choice School, Thripunithura; Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala; SBOA Public School, Chittoor; Rajagiri Public School, Kalamassery; and a few of the Bhavans group of schools. Many other schools in the city outskirts like Vidyadhiraja Senior Secondary School, Angamaly, too scored 100 per cent pass. All the 108 students who took the examination at Al-Ameen Public School scored a first class, with 63 of them gaining distinctions. All 73 students of the Rajagiri Public School secured first class and 58 of them scored distinctions. As many as 108 of the 109 who wrote the examination at the Choice School, Thripunithura, scored a first class, with 86 of them securing distinction. Choice is the only school in Kochi and its suburbs offering Humanities. As many as 20 of the 54 students who appeared at the Vidyadhiraja Senior Secondary School, Angamaly, passed with a distinction, while 22 got first class and 12 second class. TocH Public School performed well by producing 66 distinctions and 124 first classes. One hundred and forty one students had taken the examination at TocH. As many as 139 of the 141 students from the Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala, passed with a first class, 87 of them scoring a distinction. The SBOA Public School, Chittoor, marked 38 distinctions, 62 first classes and 17 second classes. Bhavan's Vidyamandir, Elamakkara had 72 distinctions, 158 first classes and 16 second classes. The Bhavan's Varunavidyalaya, Thrikkakara, produced 67 first classes and 28 distinctions. As many as 92 of the 93 students who took the examination at Bhavan's Vidyamandir, Eroor, scored a first class, with 55 of them securing a distinction. The Bhavan's Adarsh Vidyalaya, Kakkanad, produced 67 distinctions, 47 first classes and a second class. According to various school authorities, it was too early to make a comment about the results. Yet, there were no two opinions about the preference of students in the selection of subjects.
