The ritual began with the `Ganapathi Homam' in the morning. The temple chief priest (Mukhya Karyadarshi), Radhakrishnan Nampoothiri, transferred the sacred fire from the sanctum sanctorum to the fire place at the Yajnasala.

As many as 25 Vedic scholars, including Karackattu Subrahmanyan Nampoothiri, Munjoorli Devan Nampoothiri, Narayanamangalathu Narayanan Nampoothiri, Vallacaud Subrahmanyan Nampoothiri and Ramesh Elamon Nampoothiri, took part in the ritual, according to the temple PRO, Suresh Kavumbhagom.

Thousands of devotees thronged the temple today to offer prayers and witness the Brahma Kalasabhishekom at the temple, marking the culmination of the Yajnam.

The auspicious `Sarasatha archana' was performed at the Yajnasala before the `Brahmakalasam' was taken for `abhishekom', said Mr. Suresh. The temple head priest, Manikkuttan Nampoothiri, assisted by other priests, took the Brahmakalasam to the sanctum sanctorum in a procession at 12 noon.
