Village secretaries to be involved in tree plantation

HYDERABAD, MAY 24. The Forest Minister, S. Vijayaramaraju, has promised to consider recruitment of staff in his department after reviewing the staff position with officials.

Speaking to media persons after occupying his chambers in Secretariat on Monday, the Minister said the Government would take steps to improve forest wealth and environment. Village secretaries would be involved in the tree plantation programme.

The functioning of Vana Samrakshana Samithis would be improved. The Government would promote, in a big way, social forestry and medicinal plants like ganuga for bio-fuel. Smuggling of teak would be checked, he added.
