CUDDAPAH, MAY. 24. Two teenagers and two children were drowned in Cuddapah district last evening. Two third standard students Koduru Gangi Reddy and Siva Mastan, both eight-year-old, who went for a swim, were trapped in a swamp near Pamuluru village in Vempalle mandal and lost their lives. Another student, Siva Subrahmanyam Reddy, was rescued by a woman, Ganga Devi, who was washing clothes nearby and pulled him out by holding his shirt, on hearing his cries. In another incident, two teenagers Venkatasubbamma (17) and Prathap (18) of Cheepadu village in Chapadu mandal were drowned when they got into Kundu river, along with two others to drive home cattle that crossed over to the other side of the river. Subbaraju and Narasamma were rescued by a goat-rearer, who heard their cries. The bodies of Venkatasubbamma and Prathap were fished out by their relatives. The police registered cases.
