Barnabas Koech wins Prague Marathon
PRAGUE: Kenya's Barnabas Koech won the 10th Prague International Marathon on Sunday (May 24) in his maiden 42.2 kilometre race.
Braving rainy and unusually cold weather with temperatures reaching only about six degrees Celsius (43 Fahrenheit), Koech crossed the finish line in 2: 12: 15 seconds.
Dessalegn Birru of Ethiopia was placed second in 2:12:25 and Robert Stefko of the Czech Republic was third in 2:12:35.
Leila Aman of Ethiopia captured the women's event, clocking a winning time with a personal best of 2:31:48, ahead of Kenya's Kilel Caroline Cheptonui in 2:32:52 and Anne Jelagat Kibor in 2:33:37. AP
