ISLAMABAD, MAY 24. Pakistan characterised statements by the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, and the External Affairs Minister, K. Natwar Singh, as "very encouraging" and hoped that there would be no general disruption in the calendar of meetings with India and the two countries would continue ahead with the dialogue process. The Foreign Office spokesman, Masood Khan, at the weekly briefing said "the statements by Manmohan Singh and the new Foreign Minister are very encouraging and give strong signals that India would stick to the timetable for talks and continue to cooperate with us for sustaining the peace process and the dialogue process." He was responding to questions regarding the postponement of Pakistan-India talks on nuclear confidence building measures (CBMs) scheduled for May 25 on the request of India. To a question, he said the issue of nuclear CBMs or Muzaffarabad-Srinagar bus service were not as significant as the Foreign Secretary-level talks.
