PATHANAMTHITTA, MAY 25. The Cultural Affairs Minister, G. Karthikeyan, has called for introspection and a thorough discussion by the partners of the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF) on the rout of the Front in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Talking to presspersons here today, Mr. Karthikeyan said that no one in the State unit of the Congress, including himself, could wash their hands of the poll debacle. ``Normally, everyone celebrates the victory in an election. But here, it is strange to see many Congress men celebrating the poll debacle,'' he said. Asked about the demand for the reconstitution of the Cabinet and a leadership change from some Congress quarters in the backdrop of the debacle, Mr. Karthikeyan declined to comment. Reacting to the CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and Leader of the Opposition, V.S. Achuthanandan's criticism against the inclusion of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader, E. Ahamed, in the Union Council of Ministers, Mr Karthikeyan said the IUML was a part and parcel of the UDF. He said the criticism, which was politically motivated, would only weaken the secular fabric of the country.
