CHANDIGARH, MAY 25. Wheat arrival in Haryana mandis (Grain markets) has surpassed the last year's total wheat arrival as about 51.92 lakh metric tonnes had arrived till yesterday as against about 51.39 lakh tonnes arrived during last years. Stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that out of the total wheat arriving in the State mandis, the six Government procuring agencies had procured over 51.16 lakh metric tonnes. Out of these, HAFED had purchased 17.28 lakh metric tonnes followed by Food and Supplies Department with 10.43 lakh metric tonnes, Food Corporation of India 8.78 lakh metric tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation about 5.96 lakh metric tonnes, CONFED 4.44 lakh metric tonnes and Haryana Agro Industries Corporation about 4.16 lakh metric tonnes. He said that district Sirsa was leading in the State with 6.96 lakh tonnes of wheat arrival, followed by Karnal with 5.6 lakh tonnes and Jind with 5.43 lakh tonnes.
