TIRUCHI, MAY 26. Silver `kavacham' will be adorned to the Kalkara Peetam at the Sri Saradambal shrine of the Sringeri Sankara Mutt in Srirangam on Sunday. The `kavacham,' weighing eight kg, has been made at a cost of Rs.1.40 lakhs, mobilised through donations from devotees. A note from the Mutt today said the adorning of the Kalkara Peetam, over which the presiding deity Sri Saradambal is located, would be part of celebrations of the third anniversary of the Maha Kumbabhishekam (`Varusha Abishekam'), which falls on May 30. Special poojas and abhishekams including Mahanyasa Poorvaka Ekadasa Rudra japam, Ksheera abhishekam would be other highlights of the rituals.
